PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla- Arnold High School was a busy place Saturday as several hundred people packed the gym for the 24th annual Yoshukai Karate Open in Arnold's Gym.

It was a packed house, full of Karate competitors, and their families and friends. Several different styles of Karate compete in the invitational each year for a shot to be the best in the area.

Teams from as far as Pensacola and Tallahassee come to town for the event. Ages range from the young to the older, and disciplines like weapons, and open hand Karate are on display.

Karate Instructor Jimmy Crowley said, "What we try to do is, this is like a fellowship. We get to knowing everybody, even the other styles. For the kids it gives them something to do. It teaches them good discipline to come out and perform in front of the crowd, and do what they do. It takes alot of courage, and we give them alot of credit for doing that."

If you would like more information you can call Mr. Crowley at 850-722-9427.
