GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Second-seeded Florida could be without versatile left-hander Brian Johnson during this weekend's NCAA regional.
Johnson suffered a concussion last week after catcher Mike Zunino drilled him in the back of the head while trying to throw out a runner against Georgia in the Southeastern Conference tournament.
Coach Kevin O'Sullivan says Johnson will be re-evaluated Thursday afternoon and doctors will determine whether the two-way star will be available for the double-elimination regional.
O'Sullivan says Johnson will "either be full-go or no-go."
If Johnson is cleared to play, the earliest he would pitch would be on Sunday. Johnson is 8-3 with a 3.66 ERA this season.
The Gators face Manhattan on Friday. Miami and Jacksonville also are in the regional.
