Donovan Talks About Gators Seeding

Gainesville, FL--Some 68 division one men's basketball teams are looking ahead to what they call the big dance. Count Florida State and Florida among them.

Florida limped into the SEC tourney having lost five of 8. But they beat 'bama Friday and then played top ranked Kentucky to the final seconds in the semi's Saturday.

That leaving the Gators 23-10 on the season. Yet the tournament committee giving Florida just a 7th seed, and pitting them against Virginia in the West Regional Friday. Monday, Billy Donovan asked about that seeding, given that his team's been in the top 20 all year long.

"You know I felt like going into it, five maybe six, somewhere in that range. So I guess compared up, or matched up with everyone else in the field they gave us a seed that they thought was fair. I don't have a problem with it, I'm fine. We gotta move on and play. And the whole focus is now getting prepared and ready to play against Virginia."

That game Friday in Omaha, Nebraska, set for a 1:10 central time start.
