JACKSONVILLE FL--The Florida Gators have now won two straight over archrival Florida State in their longstanding baseball series, beating FSU 4-1 in Jacksonville Tuesday night.
The Gators got a two-out, two-run triple from Casey Turgeon in the sixth inning that skipped off the glove of diving Florida State center fielder James Ramsey.
Later in that inning Vickash Ramjit singled home Turgeon to make it 3-1. Ramjit later singled home another run in the 8th providing the Gators with their final run.
That was plenty as Florida got solid pitching from four relievers to rack up the 4-1 win.
That game taking place in front of a sellout crowd of 10,571 at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
The win snapped FSU's winning streak over the Gators in Jacksonville. Florida won the first meeting in 2007, but the Seminoles had captured the last four games at the neutral site.
These same two will face each other for the final time in the regular season Arpil 10th in Tallahassee.
The Gators now 23-2 as they head into a weekend series at Ole Miss. The Seminoles now 21-4 will host Virginia Tech this weekend.
