TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Reliever Joba (JAH'-buh) Chamberlain of the New York Yankees has had surgery after dislocating his right ankle while with his son at a play area. There is no timetable for his return. General manager Brian Cashman said Friday that Chamberlain had surgery Thursday night and will be hospitalized for at least a few days.
Bone broke through the skin during the dislocation. Chamberlain, who is coming off elbow ligament surgery, is scheduled for an MRI exam and CT scan.
