Hundreds of construction workers looking for a job camped out at the site of the Florida Marlins' future ballpark to be the first in line to submit their application.

The applications weren't supposed to be given out until Wednesday, but so many people showed up that the construction company had to start the process Tuesday night. Some started camping out as early as Monday afternoon.

The $515 million retractable-roof ballpark is expected to open for the 2012 season in the city's Little Havana neighborhood on the site of the demolished Orange Bowl. Construction on the site began last week, and a formal groundbreaking is scheduled for July 18.

The Hunt-Moss construction team for the project said more than 1,300 people had signed up Tuesday night.
