Tom Lewis joined the NewsChannel 7 staff in October 2001 as an anchor and producer for the 10:00 newscast. Tom was born in Pensacola, Florida. The family moved to Panama City when he was 3, so Tom considers Panama City his hometown. Tom attended local schools, graduating from Bay High School), Gulf Coast Community College and Florida State University’s main campus in Tallahassee with Bachelor of Science degree from FSU’s College of Communications.

Tom's first television job was as a Reporter/Weekend Anchor at another Panama City station in 1980. After a year, he moved into the stations’ sales department. Then in 1983, tom moved to Ft. Lauderdale to join a medical products division of Procter & Gamble. Over the next 6 years, tom sold medical products for several Fortune 500 companies, but never got broadcasting out of his system.

In 1989, Tom returned to Panama City to resume his broadcasting career. He came to NewsChannel 7 in 2001 as an Anchor-Producer, then took over as the News Director in 2005. During his tenure, the Newschannel 7 team was highly successful, winning 17 Associated Press awards in 2009 and 18 in 2010, more than any other station in Florida. During his career, Tom has won numerous awards, including a coveted “Telly” award for a documentary he produced, wrote and anchored on the 1st anniversary of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks.

In November 2010, Tom decided to cut back his 14 hour days at NewsChannel 7, and relinquished his News Director duties. He currently co-anchors the 6:00 & 10:00 newscasts with Neysa Wilkins and is the executive producer for NewsChannel 7.

And Tom has been one-half of the #1 rated “Dr. Shane & Tom Morning Show” on 92.5 WPAP since 1999.
