The rain won't be too terribly heavy in town. In fact, away from the immediate coastline, rainfall amounts will hold below 1/4" today. At the coast, though, you could see closer to 1" by the end of the afternoon.
The rain is sneaking up from the Gulf, in advance of two weather systems. The main weather player for us is an approaching front. That front is squeezing rain out of the sky now, and will rapidly drop temperatures by tonight. In fact, our highs tomorrow may not be any higher than our morning lows from Tuesday!
As for the rest of the day today, expect light-to-moderate showers, but nothing severe. The heaviest rainfall zones will be just east of the U.S. Highway 231 corridor. Your morning and afternoon commute will include some wet streets, so add a little extra drive time to your schedule today.
