Tony Melendez- Live in Concert

Oct 19, 2012 7:00 PM

St. Dominic Catholic Church
Panama City is proud to welcome Christian music and songwriter Tony Melendez, the armless man who plays the guitar with his feet. Tony doesn't just play the guitar, he has mastered his art, playing better than many with both arms and all 10 digits. He plays with virtuosity, not like a freak in a side show, and he has a testimony of courage to go with it. Please join us for an inspiring evening of faith, hope, and encouragement on Friday, October, 19, 2012 at St. Dominic Catholic Church at 7:00pm.

Tony has recorded six albums, Never Be The Same, Ways of The Wise, Cup Of Life, and Hands In Heaven and his latest Hope. A night of toe-jamming excitement for the whole family.

Originally from Rivas, Nicaragua, born with no arms and a clubbed foot due to the drug, Thalidomide. Tony’s mother was prescribed this drug for morning sickness and had no idea how it would affect her son. As he had no arms Tony learned to do almost everything with his feet and at the age of sixteen he taught himself how to play the guitar. In 1987 he was selected by the youth of Los Angeles to be their gift to Pope John Paul II. Tony has been on shows such as Good Morning America, CBS this morning, Paula Zaun, Hour of Power with Robert Shuller, Arsenio Hall, 700 Club, Jerry Lewis Telethons, and prime time network specials for Variety Clubs and Very Special Arts.

Tony travels with his brother Jose spreading the message through his music of his inspiring personal life stories to the young, and old throughout the world. They talk about how they dealt with issues such as Disability Awareness, Cultural Awareness, bullying, being a special Ed kid in a regular school.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. They can be purchased at St. Dominic Church office or by calling 850-785-4574. Doors open at 6:30pm. For more information about this event you can find us on Facebook, “Tony Melendez Concert, Panama City”
