Looking for a steamy way to spend the evening? The Panhandle has plenty of places that serve up hot and spicy. In this Panhandle Picks, Carla Kneeland has your vote for the best Thai food in the Panhandle.
If you like your food a bit exotic you don't have to rush off to Bangkok. There is plenty of good Thai food at our viewers’ number one choice.
Angel Colonel has been cooking up Thai food for 10 years and she learned from the best, her mom, Kanjanee
"My family has had the Cow Pot since the 80's. We are located at 704 Tyndall Parkway."
The cow pot is a modest restaurant without fancy trappings. The attraction is the food and the friendly Colonel family.
Kanjanee and her daughter Angel make every dish from scratch using only fresh ingredients.
"We make our food as you order it. We cut the vegetables. We don't stick it in a steamer or anything. The most popular dish is 103 Pad Thai. It's onions, garlic, noodles with egg and ground peanuts. You can choose chicken, shrimp, beef or a combination.
Kao is actually the Thai word for rice. Angel's father, stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War, dreamed of opening a restaurant that served the delicious (Kao Pai) he enjoyed over seas. Today his wife and daughter have made the Cow Pot the best Thai food in the Panhandle.
If you're worried about the food being too hot to handle the Colonel's have a star system from one to four with one for cowards, four for crazy hot.
