Tropical Depression Four Blossoms Into Claudette
The National Hurricane Center has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for the Florida Gulf Coast. The Warning is for a new depression which formed early Sunday in the Eastern Gulf of Mexico. Posted: 6:50 AM Aug 16, 2009 |

A tropical storm warning in effect is in effect for Northwest Florida and The Florida Big Ben Area. The warning stretches from Pensacola east to Cedar Key.
Tropical Storm Claudette developed this afternoon over the eastern Gulf of Mexico, growing out of what was formerly tropical storm #4.
Claudette is moving toward the northwest near 14 mph... 24 km/hr. This motion is expected to continue today...and on the forecast track the center will be near the coast at Panama City by this evening.
Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph with higher gusts. Some strengthening is expected...
Estimated minimum central pressure is 1011 mb...29.85 inches.
Rainfall accumulations of 3 to 5 inches...with isolated maximum
amounts of 10 inches are expected across the Florida panhandle...the
Big Bend region of Florida...southern Alabama...and southwestern
Georgia near the path of the center.
Storm tide is expected to produce maximum water levels of 3 to 5
feet above ground level along portions of the Florida panhandle...
Including the Big Bend.
.Seas will be 6 to 8 feet..increasing to 9 to 11 feet tonight.
Winds and seas higher in numerous showers and thunderstorms.

located on the gulf now, and the water is great, no waves nothing....... we have had thunder storms with winds way over 35 mph .... so this aint nothing but a lil rain storm, so much for the hurricane party!!!!
