A big-time temperature change has hit the Florida panhandle. We are going from "heat indices" of 90º from Monday to "wind chills" tonight around 40º. Time to break out your jacket the next few nights!

This round of cold temperatures is about 10 to 15 degrees below seasonal readings, but will stay well above any record lows. Actually, it has been colder than this in mid-October. Checking back in the almanac, we had temperatures around freezing way back in 1989 on this date.

Remember to please use your space heater safely tonight. That means keeping it in the center of the room in a well ventilated location and away from curtains and blankets. As for fireplaces, make sure your chimney is open and cleaned out, otherwise you run the risk of smoke filling up the house.
