Heavy Rains Cause Flash Flooding Saturday

PANAMA CITY BEACH - Check out some of the rain totals in our area over the past 48 hours.

Past 48 Hours
8.07” Mariana
5.25” Destin
4.70” Panama City

You can see what 4”-8” of rain in that short amount of time can do by looking at the photos above. They are just some of the great photos posted by NewsChannel 7 viewers on our Facebook fan page.

Jill Scooby Marie posted a picture of a car that got stranded when it tried to drive through standing water on Front Beach Road. You can see a tow truck is getting ready to tow it away.

The heavy rains also made it tough to see where the road ends. An SUV ended up in a draining ditch at the Panama City Mall. (Photo courtesy: Terri Brooks)

In Youngstown, Muscogee Road will need major repairs before it is drive able. The flash flooding turned it into a river and the water washed away large chunks of the asphalt.

The flash floods flooded Blue Lake in Chipley.

And it was easier to get around Lynn Haven by kayak than it was a car. Thanks to Matt McWhorter for posting that photo.
