Preparing for Tropical Storm Issac

News Channel 7 has been telling people to get ready for hurricane season for many months, but for those who have procrastinated, now may be the time to start getting prepared.

It looks like many people in our area have already gotten a head start.
"It's good to have a plan of action for your family or business in case a storm impacts the area,” said Deputy Chief Brad Monroe with Bay County. “When the storm is beckoning at the door it's not a good time to get together your plans."

And, many locals are doing just that. "This morning we've had quite a few people coming in the store requesting information as far as what to prep," said Will Brown with Home Depot.

The home improvement store sold fifteen generators Thursday and they are having to restock. "A lot of people are getting first aid kits, flashlights, batteries, gas cans, those are probably the biggest things," said Brown.

You can also get your plywood cut at Home Depot to put over your windows.

Deputy Chief Brad Monroe says the rule in his department is to have at least 3/4 tank of gas when there is a possibility of a storm hitting.
You can visit the Federal Emergency Management Agency's website to get more information on how to create your own emergency plan.
