BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Bay District Schools currently has a policy in place banning tobacco possession on campuses, but did you know this also includes e-cigarettes?
According to the policy, possession, use, or sale of tobacco products of any kind or electronic cigarettes qualifies for major disciplinary measures.
E-cigarettes are identified by the district as "any oral device that provides a vapor or liquid nicotine and/or other substance, and the use or inhalation of which simulates smoking."
"We have made some recommendations to parents, you know, to Life Management Center or other community agencies that work with children and adults on tobacco cessation," Lee Stafford, Director of Student Services for Bay District Schools, said.
Students who break this policy will face confiscation of the device and counseling, as well as the possibility of a ticket and in-school suspension or out-of-school suspension.
