Bookkeeper arrested for paying bills on company's dime

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Officials with the Bay County Sheriff's Office said a woman was arrested after getting complaints she made fraudulent transactions from business accounts.

According to investigators, Marcia Avery, 63, worked part time for Panhandle Marine Controls as a bookkeeper.

After looking at financial documents, detectives learned Avery was paying personal utility and credit card bills with company money and opened up a credit card in her employer's name.

She allegedly stole $47,000 from the business.

Avery was charged with Theft ($20,000 to less than $100,000) and Fraudulent Use of Personal Information of Another Person.
