Former funeral home employee pleads 'no contest' to mishandling bodies

CALLAWAY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The man accused of improperly storing dead bodies at a local funeral home won't face jail time.

Thursday former Brock's Funeral Home employee Gregory Dunphy pleaded "no contest" to six counts of mishandling human body remains.

This stems from allegations that he and other employees were improperly following procedures, causing bodies to start decomposing before they could be cremated or properly buried.

Dunphy will spend a year on probation, pay a $6,050 fine, and attend a victim impact panel.
