Friday Forecast - Groundhog Day

Good Friday morning everyone and Happy Groundhog Day!

It's a cloudy morning overhead and we do have a few showers passing through for the early morning commute. But most will be cleared out to the southeast after 7 or 8 am. And we're only talking a light shower or sprinkle if you do happen to catch anything from this broken line of rain.

Here's where things get a little wonky this morning, temperatures will be continuing to cool off even after sunrise! While that's unique, we'll only be dropping into the low 50s a couple hours after sunrise as breezy winds take over from the north. So just a little cool feel through the morning but over all a pleasant start as the clouds will start to peel away to the southeast as well.

We'll open up to beautiful sunshine through the midday and afternoon, but temperatures will only reach the up to 60 or the low 60s this afternoon. Winds will be breezy today from the north, especially as the cold front passes this morning, and backing off a little through the afternoon into the evening. That will add to the chill this evening however as temperatures will be cruising down into the 30s for lows by tomorrow morning.

Speaking of the weekend, Saturday seems to once again be the choice day to do outdoor activities as rain is looking to return on Sunday. We should see a widespread system pass through with a good chance at catching at least an inch across the Panhandle. If any thunderstorms can develop, which chance looks low, we could see higher amounts reach up to 2" in spots.

Bottom Line...
For today, clouds decrease to sunshine this afternoon with breezy northerly winds. Highs today will be in the low 60s on the coast and upper 50s inland. Your VIPIR 7 Day Forecast will feature a 50/50 weekend with a mix of sun and clouds tomorrow and seasonally cool conditions, rain returns on Sunday.
