Gulf Coast State College throws pizza party for elementary school

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Employees at Gulf Coast State College (GCSC) were spreading some Christmas cheer to young students Friday.

The Admissions Department threw a pizza party for Cherry Street Elementary in Panama City.

They ordered 85 large pizzas and also stuffed nearly 350 stockings with goodies, including food, candy, and toothpaste.

Organizers said they're trying to make an impact students before Winter Break.

"I just wanted to give them something special to remember," Judy Gannaway said on behalf of GCSC. I wanted Gulf Coast to be a part of it. I wanted them to know we're out there. We're waiting for them. There's opportunities for them that they probably just don't now and so I wanted to touch them through kindness."

Gannaway said she'll start planning for next year's event in February.
