BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A person walking by the Hathaway Bridge noticed something a little unusual recently: A leak coming from the waterline in the bridge.
According to Bay County Commissioners, that citizen brought the leak to the attention of Bay County Utilities crews and now, emergency repairs are costing the county more than a million dollars.
The project to repair the waterline has already begun.
No interruptions to water service in Panama City Beach are anticipated.
However, the boat ramp at the western foot of the bridge and the sidewalk on the eastward span of the bridge will be closed during the fix.
