Inmate dies after altercation at prison in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -- An inmate being housed at a state prison in Jackson County has died.

According to a spokesperson with the Florida Department of Corrections, Anthony Spencer died from an apparent inmate-on-inmate altercation at Apalachee Correctional Institute. The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 12th.

Spencer's death is currently being investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Due to the active investigation, no other details are available at this time.
