Jackson County Teacher of the Year and others recognized

JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Monday night, some Jackson County teachers and staff were recognized for their own honor roll.

The Employees of the Year banquet was held at Marianna High School. The theme of the evening was "Wild About our Employees."

Niki White was named Rookie of the Year. She's in her first year as an English Language Arts teacher at Graceville High School.

"It's an honor to be nominated by your principal and all of your faculty," White said. "It's an even greater honor to be nominated by the district and chosen by the district. I'm very excited."

The big winner of the night was Trisha Pumphrey, a first-grade teacher at Cottondale Elementary. She was selected as Teacher of the Year. She's been at Cottondale Elementary for two years but has been teaching for 20 years.

"I am in total shock right now. I am so excited to be representing Jackson County," Pumphrey said. "I love where I am. I love the job that I do and I am just so thankful and so blessed to be where I am and it's just amazing that I get to be honored for it too."

The School-Related Employee of the Year is Kris Sampson.

The Principal of the Year is Cottondale Elementary Principal Jessica Craven.

Assistant Principal of the Year is Graceville High School Assistant Principal JuJuan Clark.
