PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Clifford Chester Sims Nursing Home in Panama City threw a Christmas party for its veteran residents Sunday.

There was live music, a gift exchange and a guest appearance by Santa Claus, but Preacher Bryan Dawson said the message of the celebration goes deeper than the party and the gifts.

"We wanted to honor these men and women who have walked in liberty's footsteps and being that Jesus Christ is the ultimate veteran and he gave his blood, there's men and women that are not here today that gave their blood, so we honor them. We honor the veteran and we honor Jesus Christ on Christmas," Dawson said.

Each veteran was given a new Bible at the party, with an American flag on the outside of it to symbolize 'liberty.'
