LYNN HAVEN, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - People gathered in Lynn Haven today to raise awareness of a disease affecting more than 10% of the world's population.
Concerned citizens came together Thursday morning at Porter Park to learn more about the issues surrounding chronic kidney disease. Part of the event was a walk across the old Bailey Bridge to commemorate World Kidney Day.
Despite a cool start to the day, people both young and old took part in the walk. "I'll be 84-year's-old," Johnnie May Dav-Russ said, "but I'm going to give it a try. I told my granddaughter, okay, if I don't make it, you'll have to come and get me at the end, but I'm going to try. I don't give up."
World Kidney Day began in 2006 to raise awareness to the increasing prevalence of kidney disease
