Long-term Gulf World patient to be released into the wild

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A long-term patient at Gulf World is about to be released back into the wild after being treated for an injury for a year.

Fabio, a sub-adult green sea turtle, will be released back into the wild Wednesday at 9 a.m. at Beacon Hill in St. Joe Beach.

Fabio was found floating abnormally near the jetties on February 28th, 2017. It was determined that a boat had damaged his top shell, or carapace.

Officials at Gulf World have medically cleared Fabio to return to the wild.

This was not the first time Fabio has visited Gulf World. It is actually his fourth! Fabio has been in and out of treatment for various reasons since 2009.
