Medical Monday: Pediatric surgeons help children get treatment locally

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Our area is now home to two, fellowship trained pediatric surgeons, which means parents and their children no longer have to travel more than 100 miles for treatment.

Dr. Michael Taylor and Dr. Beth Walford perform pediatric surgeries at Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center. However, two additional offices have been opened up in Santa Rosa and Chipley to help out of town patients have easier access.

"Our goal here at Gulf Coast Pediatric and General Surgery is to provide pediatric surgery care for the surrounding counties as well as for kids that are over in Destin and Fort Walton, all the way up to Dothan and into Alabama and east toward Tallahassee. That's what we're here to do is to provide care for those children as well," explained Dr. Taylor.

While patients still have the actual surgery at Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center, the pre-op and post-op visits can be made at the office that's closest.
