OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - UPDATE: 1/3/18 at 3 p.m.
Officials with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) said the victims of a murder-suicide in northern Okaloosa County have been tentatively identified as a married couple in their mid-sixties.
The Medical Examiner’s Office has tentatively identified the victims as William Rust, 64, and his wife Gretchen, 64.
Investigators said they believe William shot his wife, then himself, at their home on Winners Circle in Baker on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day before a family member found the bodies early Monday afternoon.
Offiicals said they were last seen alive late Sunday afternoon.
According to family members, William was diagnosed with a medical condition that worsened his mental health and led him to get angry at times.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office is investigating what it says is an apparent domestic violence related murder/suicide.
Deputies say the incident happened at a home north of Baker.
Deputies were called to the home on Winners Circle after a family member found a man and woman dead inside the home around 1:30 Monday afternoon from apparent gunshot wounds.
Deputies say the pair had reportedly been arguing the previous day.
Autopsies are being scheduled and investigators say they will release names once positive identifications are made.
