JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The old Marianna High School has been virtually empty for more than a decade.
The Jackson County Adult Education and Teen Parenting programs each use part of the school. A section of the building was given to the Early Childhood Center.
District officials said they want to eventually renovate the school to make room for district offices.
They said they hope having everything under one roof would benefit parents and other community members.
"It'll give us enough conference and meeting spaces, as well as it will add a feature with the old auditorium for the community," Facilities Director Stuart Wiggins said. "We hope to turn the old auditorium into a community center. Dance recitals, piano recitals, other activities, maybe even concerts could be in that facility."
District officials said they hope to move forward with their plans once they secure enough funding.
