Police identify pedestrian killed in Crestview

CRESTVIEW, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - UPDATE:

The Crestview Police Department has received a positive identification by next of kin of a woman killed earlier this week while crossing Ferdon Boulevard South/State Road 85 at Wal Mart Road.

The woman hit has been identified as Lasonja D. Allen, 53.

Allen was crossing Ferdon Boulevard South/State Road 85 around 10:10 p.m. Oct. 11 against a red light when she was struck and killed by a 22-year-old Crestview man who was driving through the intersection on a green light in the fast lane.

Ms. Allen had no identification on her at the time of the accident. She was taken to North Okaloosa Medical center by Okaloosa EMS, where she was pronounced dead.

Crestview police are investigating a car crash that killed a woman walking across a road.

Police say it happened Wednesday night around 10:10 on Ferdon Boulevard South at Walmart Road.

According to the accident report, a Crestview man was driving his pick-up truck on Ferdon Boulevard drove through the intersection on a green light and hit a woman who was crossing the road.

The report says the victim was reportedly crossing the road against the crossing light and was not paying attention to the traffic on the road.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
