WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Traffic at one 30A intersection may soon be flowing a little more smoothly.
"We're currently working on a lot of improvements over there at the 30A/395 intersection," Walton County Public Information Manager, Louis Svehla said.
Trees have been removed and some areas have been widened and it's all part of a greater plan for the intersection.
"There are a lot of improvements we've needed to do. The problem is that area, the right of way is smaller. There is a lot of property there the county doesn't own and really it's been an intersection that has been plaguing the county for several years," Svehla said.
Now, one of the next big steps will be the installation of a new traffic light at the intersection.
"Traffic flow is always an issue there. That's the area where we always have a lot of backups, so hopefully everything we're going to do, specifically this traffic light is gonna happen the soonest, will ease that congestion up in that area and allow for better flow for not just traffic vehicles, but pedestrian traffic as well," Svehla added.
With the material already in house, Walton County commissioners approved at the last board meeting to begin moving forward with the addition of the light.
Official said they hope to have the light up and running by March.
