Residents prepare for frigid weather

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - While some residents are preparing for the beach ball to drop, others are preparing for the temperatures to drop

With lows expected below freezing for the first days of 2018, some residents are making preparations to face the cold.

Some that we spoke to are doing what they can to protect their plants and their pipes from the frigid temperatures.

Richard Walker, a Panama City resident says, "[My wife] is in charge of the plants but I'm in charge of keeping them alive, best as I can. What she usually does is we store old blankets and sheets and we cover the plants."

Walker also said that he and his wife make changes to their irrigation system or keep their faucets dripping to prevent them from freezing.

Space heaters are also a great way to provide some extra warmth to your home.
