Second annual Military Showcase held at Rutherford High School

SPRINGFIELD, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - With Veterans Day coming up, the focus this time of year tends to lean towards the military veterans in our country, which is why students at a local high school got to get some insight about military life Friday.

Rutherford High School held its second annual Military Showcase for students approaching graduation.

Army, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard representatives were there to talk with students who are interested in joining the military.

"Not everyone is made for college and that's okay. We have vocational schools but we also have the military which offers a lot to a lot of our students," Rutherford High School Guidance Counselor Margot Gall said. "So it's really kind of like a career day for them."

Principal Coy Pilson stressed the importance of getting a high school diploma since you need one to sign up for all branches of the military.
