Seventh grader arrested for allegedly threatening school in Liberty County

LIBERTY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - According to investigators at the Liberty County Sheriff's Office, a juvenile was arrested after administrators at W.R. Tolar K-8 received a tip Wednesday regarding a possible threat of violence toward students and staff.

The School Resource Deputy and deputies from the Sheriff's Office responded, and put the middle school section of the facility on lockdown.

Investigators tracked down the student behind the threat and said it was a 12-year-old seventh grader.

The student was detained and deputies put a protective perimeter around the school to be safe.

Investigators said students and staff claimed the suspect was going to commit a violent crime with a firearm at the school Wednesday. The alleged suspect later admitted to making the threat.

Deputies didn't find any weapons on campus, but the student was arrested for Disruption of a School Function.
