Southport couple facing charges after child found with 17 rotten teeth

SOUTHPORT, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The parents of a local girl suffering from problems with 17 rotten teeth are facing child neglect charges for not getting her treatment.

Jeremie Maloy, 31, and Cynthia Maloy, 32, appeared in court Monday in Bay County and were ordered not to have contact with the girl, whose age wasn't available.

According to Bay County Sheriff's Office arrest records, a school social worker had been in contact with the Maloys since August 2016 to get the child help. According to the reports, medical permission forms were sent home with the child to be seen at the free dental bus but were not returned.

In February 2017, the Department of Children and Families opened an investigation into the child's teeth.

According to arrest records, the child's teeth were "severely decayed" and her adult teeth had "begun to grow in and overlap her rotten, ruptured teeth."

Reports say teachers told investigators the child complained daily about pain and had to eat soft foods.

The Maloys were arrested November 3rd.
