PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A group of women is encouraging military wives to get in the entrepreneurial spirit.
The women hosted a Support Military Spouses with Small Businesses event Friday to promote their businesses and give tips on how to start one, too.
Several booths were set up showcasing their businesses, which sold items ranging from hand-made clothing to beauty products.
The event came together after chatter on a "Divers Wives" Facebook group.
They say moving around can make job stability difficult for military spouses, so doing working on their own terms can help provide needed financial support for their families.
"It's an awesome thing and it's a journey and it's exciting to be able to give back to your family and help support your family and it empowers you," said Jamie Hardin, who owns a clothing boutique she runs out of her basement.
This was the first meeting for the group, but they plan to host another event in three months.
