PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Tonight is the first night of Hanukkah!
Also known as the Festival of Lights, Hanukkah runs from Tuesday evening until Wednesday, December 20th.
It celebrates the victory of the Jewish people over the Greeks in the second century before common era.
For eight nights the Jewish community lights one candle a night and also gives gifts.
Sharon Yordon, a member of the Jewish Community, says, "Be aware of it and understand it, that it's important to us like Christmas is to them [Christians.]"
A Hanukkah party will take place this Sunday starting at 10 a.m. at the Temple B'nai Israel in Panama City. You don't have to be Jewish to attend. It'll feature games for the kids and food for all.
