Timber spill after accident closes Highway 231

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Traffic is moving again on Highway 231 after all four lanes of the roadway were shut down due to an accident Tuesday morning.

A logging truck rolled over on Highway 231 near the intersection of County Road 2321, spilling timber across the road.

Florida Highway Patrol, Bay County Fire Department, and the Bay County Sheriff's Office all responded to the accident.

So far no injuries are reported.

According to troopers, David Smith, 36, of Alabama, was driving on County Road 2321 and didn't stop for a stop sign. They say Smith tried to turn right onto Highway 231 but was going too fast and his tractor trailer turned over. Smith is being charged with driving too fast for conditions and failure to carry driver's license.
