Tips for driving in cold conditions

PANHANDLE, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Since some of us here in the Panhandle are not used to the cold weather, the Florida Highway Patrols wants to remind you to be safe on the roads.

Eastbound travelers heading toward Tallahassee or Lake City could see possible freezing rain and sleet over the next few hours, they will have extra troopers to monitor the roads and bridges.

They ask that you please keep these things in mind:
- Drive at or below the speed limit
- Increase your following distance
- Know if your car has anti-lock brakes
- If your vehicle doesn't have anti-lock brakes, you may need to pump your brakes to keep them from locking up
