WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Plans to begin Walton County's new sports complex are finally set to get rolling.
Tuesday, Walton County Commissioners awarded a nearly $6 million contract for the new complex to C.W. Roberts Contracting Incorporated, which happened to be the only bidder for the project.
The contractor's original bid presented to the board was higher than county officials were looking for, but after some negotiating, a compromise was made.
The first phase of the complex will include the infrastructure, multi-use sidewalks, and baseball fields. The only thing not in the plans as of now is lighting, which county officials said they are working on.
C.W. Roberts has 45 days to begin construction and once they commence, have 360 days to complete the work.
