WASHINGTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A Washington County woman is facing charges after deputies say she shot her husband during an argument.
Washington County Sheriff's Deputies say Peggy McAteer, 46, called 911 Thursday night and reported she had shot her husband, and he needed emergency medical services.
Deputies say when they got to the scene on Union Hill Road, they found Randy McAteer, 60, laying just inside the front door and say he had been shot.
During the investigation, deputies say Peggy told them the couple had an argument that lasted throughout the day about a possible affair. They say Peggy told them she got a handgun out of the bedroom closet and fired twice, shooting Randy in the upper leg once.
Deputies say Randy was taken to a local hospital.
Peggy is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and is being held on a $100,000 bond.
