Gulf Coast celebrates Thanksgiving with win over Polk State

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Thanksgiving is commonly celebrated with the three F's: food, family, and football. Thursday at Gulf Coast also included basketball, plus a victory for the men's team.

In the first game of the Visit Panama City Beach Classic, the Commodores overcame a 38-32 deficit at halftime to beat Polk State 70-67.

Providence College transfer Quadree Smith scored the first six points for the Commodores, finishing with nine total. Marlon Adams led the team with 12 points, followed by Tyree Gibson with 11 points and 5 assists.

Polk State plays Walters State on Friday while the Commodores have the day off.

Saturday, the classic concludes with Gulf Coast battling Walters State at noon.
