Lady 'fins are starting the playoffs at home

LYNN HAVEN, Fla (WJHG/WECP) - Several area high school girls basketball teams are looking ahead to the start of the state playoffs Thursday night.

Among those hosting first round games, or region quarterfinals, are Port St. Joe, Holmes, Paxton, Walton, Choctaw and Mosley.

The latter on that list, Mosley, will host Godby Thursday night at 6 p.m. on the floor of the Redfern Gym.

Coach Jon Mason and his team taking a 19-5 mark in to that one, the Cougars come west at 10-13.

Mosley coming off wins over county and district rivals Bay and Rutherford in their district tourney.

So as the champs of 6A-1 they get to start the playoffs at home.

"Feeling good," Jon Mason, Mosley girls basketball coach said. "After the way we played in the district tournament, I feel our chemistry is back to where it was before the Christmas break. Everybody is kind of hitting on all cylinders. Everybody is back healthy. I think we're headed in that direction where we can make a run at the state tournament."

Godby and Mosley play at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
