Governor declares state of emergency

Florida Governor Rick Scott declared a state of emergency for 42 counties, urging everyone to have a plan in place in preparation for Tropical Depression #9.

A tropical storm warning is in effect for Bay, Gulf and Franklin Counties, while a hurricane watch is still in effect for Franklin County and points east.

In Florida's 2nd Congressional District race for the U.S. House, Neal Dunn beat out Mary Thomas and Ken Sukhia for the republican nomination and Walter Dartland narrowly beat Steve Crapps to win the democratic nomination.
