BLOUNTSTOWN, Fla. (WJHG) -The Blountstown Tigers are back together, as a family, as their coach puts it. The Tigers among the many area football coaches and players getting back together in recent weeks.

This some video from the practice field at Blountstown, the team that finished as the runner up in the 1A class last year.Coach Beau Johnson and his guys able to get back on campus last week and the beginning of this week, after going so long without seeing each other. Coach says it’s a blessing to be back amongst his players!

"Oh super excited, we really missed them." Coach Johnson tells us. "They're like our children. I mean football's one thing but we really are like a family. Like last year during the playoffs during Thanksgiving week, we ate together every day and just had a big time. I mean we hold them accountable and holler at them, but in the end they're like our kids. And we missed them, it was like family being gone. So just having them back last week was exciting and fun, and they're excited to be here and that makes it fun too.

And though they missed being apart, well now that they’re back together, the coach says the attitude and effort he is seeing is terrific, and perhaps there was a positive to missing out like they did in recent months.

“You know the break probably did us all some good.” Johnson said. “It made us realize that this can be taken away from us. You know we went through the hurricane so we’ve kind of felt this before. So it’s just a great feeling to be back, and they’re excited I’m just super happy with their efforts so far.”

Senior to be, Brody Hall, the Tigers center says he is also thrilled to be back with his coaches and teammates.

“I’m pretty excited.” Hall said. “It’s something that we didn’t get a lot of because weight lifting season was canceled and everything. No spring ball, so that time where you get to bond with the juniors and seniors and sophomore’s kind of got taken away. So now we’re just dealing with the freshman. So we’re all kind of one big family getting back together. That’s pretty cool. We’re excited just to see each other, we haven’t seen each other at school, and that’s something that were used to.”

The official start of fall practice is just about 6 weeks away.
