PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG) -
Good Friday morning everyone!
It’s a quiet start on radar and satellite this morning over NWFL. We’ll see plenty of sunshine opening up in our skies this morning and through much of the day ahead. However, temperatures are just a touch warmer, and feeling just a “skosh” more sticky.
We’re waking up with upper 60s inland to low 70s on the coast and dew points have moved into the mid to upper 60s. It’ll still be fairly pleasant early on this morning, but warming fast under the sunshine on the Morning Commute. We’ll reach the 80s by 8 or 9am this morning on our way to the upper 80s to low 90s for daytime highs this afternoon.
A weak ridge of high pressure has settled into the Northeastern Gulf, associated with a broader area of high pressure over the Eastern Continental US. This ridging pattern brings more subsidence to the atmosphere which will do a couple things for our weather pattern.
Sinking motion in the atmosphere works to inhibit the rising motion needed to generate clouds and rain chances. So those will be fewer and further between in our skies today and into the weekend setting up more sunshine.
That sinking motion is also a warmer process in the atmosphere. Combined with the sunshine, we’ll be talking highs pushing the 90s for many of us away from the beaches heading into today and the upcoming weekend.
This pattern will remain in place through Sunday before we start to see a bit of a shift into a more summery wetter pattern next week with scattered afternoon storm activity picking back up late Monday.
For today, mainly sunny skies and hotter. Highs today reach the upper 80s near 90 on the coast to near 93° inland. Your 7 Day Forecast keeps the heat and sunshine around with just a few more clouds by Sunday as humidity gradually rebounds throughout the weekend.
