PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG) -
Good Monday morning everyone!
It’s a quiet start on radar and satellite this morning. We’ll see plenty of sunshine out the door today and that will go to work on temperatures rather quickly.
We’re already a bit warm and humid out waking up in the low 70s with dew points in the upper 60s for most. Dress comfortably out the door today as it’ll be a hot one. We’ll be on our way into the 80s after 9am and pushing the 90s by the afternoon. The coast may hang back in the upper 80s, but feels like temperatures today for everyone will reach the low to mid 90s.
That may be just enough heat and humidity to get some afternoon convection developing in the sky. Those clouds may lead toward a few stray afternoon showers. They’ll be quite widespread and isolated today. However, we’re expecting that activity to develop a bit more over the next several days.
Rain chances today may only be at 20%, but we’ll see them turn more persistent periodic through the midweek as troughing and deeper moisture move into the Eastern US. Rain chances rise to around 60% through Tuesday through Thursday.
By late week we should see a layer of African Saharan dust move into our upper levels of the atmosphere. This is something that happens just about every year, and while it works to suppress tropical activity across the Atlantic, when it moves into our upper levels of the atmosphere around the Gulf, it’ll make for some beautiful sunrises and sunsets. We can expect to start to see some greater color in our skies around Thursday and into the weekend.
For today, mostly sunny skies with a few isolated and widely scattered showers this afternoon. Highs today near 90 on the coast to the low 90s inland. Your 7 Day Forecast brings in a bit of unsettled weather in through the midweek, especially in the afternoons.
