SOUTHPORT, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -

Bozeman seniors will have more privileges at lunchtime next school year.

Tuesday, the Bay District School Board voted to approve four schools’ requests for an open campus at lunch, one of which was Deane Bozeman.

The school has typically had a closed campus but in the wake of the coronavirus, school leaders say they needed a way to help students social distance at lunch.

“Opening up the lunch, it will only be for seniors, it will be heavily restricted, it will be heavily monitored,” said Principal Ivan Beach. “We’re hoping it’ll be a great benefit to our students but also help with some of the other issues we’re facing at this time.”

Principal Beach says there are a few food options for students to go to near the school and with the new traffic light, it’s safer for students to leave.
