New fire station in Panama City Beach
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG) - The Panama City Beach Fire Department is getting some brand new digs.
Fire Station NO. 30 is set to open Friday morning, and is set to become a huge asset for the fire department. The station, located off of Back Beach Road on North Nautilus Street, will help reduce response times drastically throughout the city.
”This particular location splits the city directly in half,” said Ray Morgan, Deputy Chief of Panama City Beach Fire Rescue. “So what that does for us, with the amount of traffic we have on Back Beach; everybody knows its a problem, its a problem for us in response. This will actually cut our response time in half for our customers.”
The new facility is filled with new green features such as automatic lights and efficient air conditioning. Staff spent most of the day Wednesday moving new equipment and medical supplies into the new station, and the hope is that the community will greatly benefit from what the facility has to offer.
“What I hope they (the community) gain from this is a better response, a more timely response and just knowing we are here for them,” Morgan said. “Our staff is excited. Our staff can’t wait to provide the service we always do provide, but in a more timely manner.”
