PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG) - Girls Inc. announced Friday it will close a Panama City facility for more than a week after learning a member has tested positive for the coronavirus COVID-19.

Executive Director Niki Kelly said in a release the organization has taken every effort to keep the girls safe after they reopened their summer camp. The organization has done daily health screenings, intensive ongoing cleaning, and efforts to keep the girls socially distant, Kelly says.

“Unfortunately, [Friday] afternoon we learned that a member of our Girls Inc program in Panama City tested positive for COVID-19,” Kelly wrote.

She says the building will be closed until July 6th so it can be disinfected. She also says this will allow anyone who may have been exposed the chance to get tested before returning.
