It’s time to start registering your little ones for Pre-K.

Bay District Schools’ voluntary pre-kindergarten program runs every school day for part of the day, and the program is free.

Educators said Pre-K is important for kids because it gives them a boost in academics.

They said it also increases their chances of passing the third grade reading test.

Coordinator Jennifer Lathem-Walters said students will learn things to prepare them socially and academically.

“The purpose of the Pre-k program is to prepare young children to start kindergarten ready to learn. And of course, our mission in Bay District Schools is to ensure all children are intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically ready to start school ready to learn,” said Lathem-Walters.

There are some new places for Pre-K this year. You can find those and register for Pre-K on the Bay District Schools’ website.
